Steve Moreland, CIEC*, holds the esteemed position of Senior Vice-President at American Metropolitan Environmental, Inc. (AMEI). With an extensive tenure exceeding 35 years, he has garnered profound expertise in both the public and private sectors within the realm of environmental inspection and consulting. His comprehensive experience spans a diverse range of contaminants and hazards, including but not limited to asbestos surveys, chemical testing, bioaerosols sampling, (fungi & bacteria), Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) sampling, and much more.

Before founding AMEI in 1995, Steve Moreland held a significant role at USD 259 – Wichita Public Schools, Environmental Services Department, from 1987 to 1995. Serving as one of the inaugural asbestos inspectors in the State of Kansas, he played a pivotal role at the department’s outset. Initially tasked with conducting inspections and crafting asbestos management plans for each district building, the department’s scope expanded over time. Under Steve’s leadership, it assumed responsibility for the comprehensive oversight and management of all environmental matters within the district. This encompassed hazardous waste, underground and aboveground storage tanks, as well as blood-borne pathogens.

In a July 27, 2002 article, the Wichita Eagle newspaper dubbed Steve the “mold hunter”.  He maintains numerous certifications that encompass several environmental disciplines, and is a graduate of Butler County Community College, El Dorado, Kansas, with an Associate of Science degree, and was awarded the “Color of the Purple Award for Academic Excellence”.


David Moreland, CIEC*, is a seasoned Indoor Environmental Quality Consultant currently in the employment of AMEI since January 2003. With a robust background in private sector inspections within the realm of environmental consulting, his expertise spans water loss and water intrusion assessments for both commercial and residential property stakeholders, including owners, occupants, and insurance adjusters.

David’s extensive inspection portfolio also comprises evaluations of fungal growth, bacteria accumulation, and biological contamination within various structures. Additionally, he possesses proficiency in wood decay assessments; accredited asbestos inspections and bulk sample collection across residential, commercial, and industrial buildings; and his skill set further extends to chemical testing, including substances such as solvents, VOCs, hydrocarbons, mercury, formaldehyde, and many others.

Furthermore, David is well-versed in conducting Clandestine Lab & methamphetamine inspections and recognized testing in properties to determine current levels, and to provide guidelines for any necessary remediation and cleaning procedures. His comprehensive certifications encompass a spectrum of environmental disciplines, validating his competence across diverse domains.

David Moreland graduated from Butler County Community College, El Dorado, KS, where he earned an Associates Degree in Science, underscoring his commitment to academic excellence in this field.
